Recent Works 2019

Recent Works 2019 is the 39th annual juried art competition featuring artwork created by artists who live or work in Lake County, IL. Work must have been created within the past two years.

Eligibility: All artists age 18 or older who reside or work in Lake County are eligible to enter. Non-Lake County residents must indicate their Lake County workplace on the entry form. Artists may submit up to three entries. Work previously shown in the Robert T. Wright Gallery of Art is not eligible. Both 2D and 3D work is accepted in any medium except video and animation. All work must be original, never shown in this gallery, and completed within the last two years. Works are limited to 72" in any direction. Paintings may be in any medium and must be dry with hang wire attached to the back. Works on canvas with finished edges need not be framed. Works on paper must be framed under glass or plexi glass with hang wire attached. Use black, metal, white, or nonornate wood frames only. Sculpture and ceramics may be free-standing or on a base; for entries over 100 lbs., contact 847-543-2040. Multiple pieces as a set (diptychs, triptychs, etc.) are accepted.

Entry fee is $20 for 1-3 pieces. Gallery members can use coupon code "recent" for a $5 discount (membership must be current through the end of the show). Application and fees are due Thursday, September 26, through callforentry.org. Accepted works must be delivered Tuesday, October 15, 1:30-6:30 pm. The exhibition runs Friday, October 18 – Sunday, November 24, with an opening reception Friday, October 18, 6-8 pm. Work pickup is Tuesday, November 26. Awards will be announced at the opening reception. Artists will be notified of acceptance by email by Friday, October 4. Accepted works will be insured with a maximum coverage of $3,000. A 35% commission is retained on all work sold.
