Recent Works 2018

The 38th annual juried art competition features artwork created by artists who live or work in Lake County, IL. Work must have been created within the past two years. All artists age 18 or older who reside or work in Lake County are eligible to enter. Non-Lake County residents must indicate workplace on the entry form. Artists may submit up to three entries. Work previously shown in the Robert T. Wright Gallery of Art is not eligible.

2D and 3D work is accepted in any medium except video and animation. All work must be original, never shown in this gallery, and completed within the last two years. Reproductions or copies will not be accepted. Works are limited to 72" in any direction. Paintings may be in any medium and must be dry with hang wire attached to the back. Works on canvas with finished edges need not be framed. Works on paper must be framed under glass or plexi glass with hang wire attached. Use black, metal, white, or non-ornate wood frames only. Sculpture and ceramics may be free-standing or on a base; entries over 100 lbs require prior arrangement by calling 847-543-2040. Multiple pieces as sets (diptychs, triptychs, etc.) are accepted.

Application deadline is September 21st at 11:59 p.m. MDT through callforentry.org. Entry fee is $20 for 1-3 pieces. Gallery members may use coupon code "recent" for a $5 discount; membership must be current through the end of the show. Accepted works must be delivered Monday October 1st (2-7 pm) or Tuesday October 2nd (9 am-12 noon). The opening reception is Friday October 5th (6-8 pm) with live music and refreshments. Exhibited work must remain in place for the duration of the show and is picked up Monday November 5th. Awards will be announced at the opening reception. All work must be marked with a value for insurance purposes; maximum insurance coverage is $3,000. Price work for sale or mark NFS. The gallery retains a 35% commission on all work sold, including purchase awards.
