Recent Works 2017

Recent Works 2017 is a juried competition for artwork created by artists 18 years or older who live or work in Lake County, IL. Work must have been created within the past two years. Artists may submit up to three entries. Entry fee is $20 for 1-3 pieces. Gallery members can use coupon code "recent" for a $5 discount.

Eligible media includes 2D and 3D work in any medium except video and animation. All work must be original, never previously shown in this gallery, and completed within the last two years. Works are limited to 72" in any direction. Paintings may be in any medium and must be dry with hang wire attached to the back. Works on canvas with finished edges need not be framed. Works on paper must be framed under glass or plexi glass with hang wire attached; only black, metal, white, or non-ornate wood frames are permitted. Sculpture and ceramics may be free-standing or on a base; entries over 100 lbs require prior arrangement by calling 847-543-2040. Multiple pieces as sets (diptychs, triptychs, etc.) are accepted.

Application deadline is September 26th at 11:59 p.m. MDT through callforentry.org. Accepted works must be delivered Monday October 9th (2-5 pm) or Tuesday October 10th (9 am-6 pm) to the gallery in the Library's first floor. The opening reception is Friday October 13th at 6-8 pm with live music and refreshments. Awards will be announced at the opening and selected by the juror. Purchase awards will also be bestowed by gallery staff. Work must be priced for sale or marked NFS; the gallery retains a 35% commission on all sales. Accepted works will be insured with a maximum coverage of $3,000. Pick-up for exhibited work is Monday November 13th from 10 am to 6 pm. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 8 am-9 pm, Friday 8 am-4:30 pm, and Saturday 9 am-3 pm.
