Recent Works 2016

Recent Works 2016 is a juried competition open to all artists age 18 or older who reside or work in Lake County, Illinois. Artists may submit up to two entries completed within the last two years. Work previously shown in the Robert T. Wright Gallery of Art is not eligible. Entry fee is $20 for 1-2 pieces. Submissions must include 1-2 images and are due by September 18th at 11:59 p.m. MDT through callforentry.org.

Over $1,000 in cash awards will be presented based on the juror's selections, along with purchase awards. All work must be original and never before shown in this gallery. Paintings may be in any medium and must be dry with hang wire attached. Prints, drawings, and photographs must be framed under glass or plexi with hang wire attached; only black, metal, white, or non-ornate wood frames are permitted. Sculpture and ceramics may be free-standing or on a base; pieces over 100 lbs require prior arrangement by calling 847-543-2040. Works are limited to 72 inches in any direction. Multiple pieces (diptychs, triptychs, etc.) are accepted.

Accepted works must be delivered to the gallery on Tuesday, October 4th between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. The exhibition runs October 7th to November 12th, with an opening reception on Friday, October 7th from 6-8 p.m. featuring live music and refreshments. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibited work must remain in place for the duration of the show. Pick-up is Monday, November 14th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All work will be insured with a maximum coverage of $3,000. A 35% commission will be retained on all work sold. Artists will be notified of acceptance by September 24th via email and through the CAFÉ website.
