Realms at Art Works Downtown

Art Works Downtown invites artists to submit work interpreting the concept "Realms." This exhibition showcases a variety of interpretations evoking the mystery, wonder, and imagination of how artwork can transcend the viewer into a new space. The exhibition explores questions such as: What story can a sense of space tell? How can a work of art transfigure the environment it is in? Where can your art take the viewer?

Eligibility is limited to San Francisco Bay Area artists living within 100 miles of San Rafael, California. The exhibition is open to most subject matter including abstraction and all visual arts media including sculpture. Original artwork only; no giclées or reproductions. Artwork must not exceed 72" including frame, stand, and all materials. Video artists must include equipment dimensions and supply all equipment for the exhibition; projections are prohibited. Images of explicit sexual content or violence will not be considered. Submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. Entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries, with discounts available for AWD Artist Members. Submissions are accepted through CallForEntry.org only.

Jurors are Kim Larson and Bradley Platz of Modern Eden Gallery. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on March 6–7. Accepted work must be hand-delivered March 27–29, 12–6 pm. The exhibition runs April 4–May 24, with public visiting hours Wednesday–Saturday, 12–6 pm. Opening reception is April 11, 5–8 pm; second reception is May 9, 5–8 pm. Unsold artwork may be picked up May 29–31, 12–6 pm. Art Works Downtown retains 40% of net sales; artists are responsible for donating this amount to the organization.
