Realism: Encountering the Real

Realism: Encountering the Real is a juried exhibition at Site:Brooklyn Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, running June 12–July 11, 2020. The exhibition seeks works across all media that engage with realism today. Historically, realism represented a move away from historical and academic modes toward naturalist styles and realistic subjects. Once considered dated, realism is now being used by artists in incisive and original ways. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in any medium.

Entry fee is $37.00 for up to three images, with an additional $10.00 per image (up to 12 images total). Submissions must include 3–15 total work samples (3–12 images and 0–3 videos). The submission deadline is May 5, 2020 at 11:59 PM MT. Notification of acceptance will be sent May 13, 2020. The opening reception is Friday, June 12, 2020 from 6–9 PM.

Only original work may be submitted. Maximum artwork size is 72" × 60" × 24" D. All artwork must be suitably framed to professional standards and ready for hanging (Plexiglas required except for hand-delivered work under 24" × 30"). Wall-mounted sculpture, canvas, and wood panels do not require frames. All artwork must be priced for sale. Site:Brooklyn retains a 50% commission on all sales.
