Re-Context Colorado Photographic Arts Center Juried Exhibition

The Colorado Photographic Arts Center invites submissions for the Re-Context juried exhibition exploring appropriation in photography. The theme addresses issues of originality, authenticity, and authorship through the intentional borrowing, copying, or alteration of images as commentary on consumerism, popular culture, society, or the art world itself. Photographic artists working in this style are encouraged to apply.

Submission deadline is Friday, June 3, 2016. Entry fees are $30 for members and $35 for non-members for up to 3 images, with $4 per additional image for members and $5 for non-members (up to 10 images total, with 0-2 videos also accepted). Works must have been made within three years of the exhibition deadline. All lens-based media are eligible, including images made by film or video camera, scanner, screen-capture, digital camera, and mobile photography. Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists. Application notifications will be sent June 10, 2016. The exhibition runs July 1-30, 2016, with an opening reception on July 8, 2016. Exhibition juror is Ariel Shanberg, a curator and educator with over 17 years of experience.

Accepted work must be shipped or delivered ready-to-hang by Monday, June 27th. Exhibition print sizes must be specified. CPAC charges a 40% sales commission. Artists retain all copyrights to their images. Works will be insured while on CPAC premises, but CPAC is not responsible for damage or loss during transit.
