About This Call

The Raymore Arts Commission is seeking one leasable, pre-existing outdoor sculpture to be installed for two years at the Eagle Glen north trailhead in Raymore, Missouri. One sculpture will be selected to be on display from Fall 2022 to Fall 2024.

The Raymore Arts Commission is seeking original, pre-existing art in any media suitable for outdoor space. The public art piece must be structurally sound with a base that fits within a 6x6 ft square concrete pad. All work must be freestanding and capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions common to Missouri, including cold winters, occasional ice and snow, wind, humidity, hot summers, thunderstorms and heavy rain. The piece must be suitable for interaction from the public, including children, with protection from possible injury from materials. The piece must not include sharp objects or be easily climbable. The art will be located in an open green space near the Eagle Glen trailhead at the southeast intersection of South Foxridge Drive and Johnston Parkway.

The selected artist will receive a $3,000 payment ($1,500 upon installation and $1,500 upon removal) as well as public recognition and an opportunity for sales. The work must be available for 24 months, from installation before the end of October 2022 to removal by the end of September 2024. Artists are responsible for transporting, installing and removing artwork. The Raymore Arts Commission will oversee installation but will not provide staff or equipment.

Applications must include: completed application, up to two digital images per entry (labeled with image number, artist name and entry title), artist name, entry title, materials used and dimensions (height x width x depth), description of how the sculpture will be secured to the 6x6' concrete pad, short description of entry, artist statement and current professional resume or link to website/resume, and asking price for the sculpture. Artists may submit up to two works for consideration. Only existing, completed works will be considered. The program is open to all artists regardless of location who are at least 18 years of age. All entries must be original work and of safe design and construction.
