About This Call
The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation launched the Rauschenberg Residency to support artists and other creative individuals through the gifts of time, space, resources and community. The residency is sited in Captiva Island, Florida, where Robert Rauschenberg lived and worked for over 40 years. The 20-acre facility features a unique history, creativity, beauty and serenity with historic and modern structures creating an idyllic backdrop for the artistic process.
Participants are provided with travel, meals and housing, use of equipment, staff resources, and a $3,500 stipend. The facility includes 9 buildings serving as housing and studio spaces in a communal environment where bed and bath are private, but housing is shared along with some studio spaces and the majority of meals. The majority of the facility is wireless.
Studio spaces include: Main Studio (8,000 sq. ft.) with digital imaging, audio and video computer workstations, photo silkscreen printing, B/W photographic darkroom, 2D and 3D studio, fabrication workshop, and sound studio; Ceramics Studio; Writing Studio; Dance Studio; and three Multipurpose Studios. A full list of equipment and materials, and the Residency contract, will be sent with notification of residency date. Work sample requirements: up to 8 images, up to 4 audio files, and up to 4 video files (8 total samples maximum).
