About This Call
Ramona Residency, founded in 2024, is a nonprofit organization based in Houston and the first dedicated artist mother residency in Texas. Their mission is to enrich the Houston arts landscape by inviting artists to engage with the community through artist talks and pop up exhibitions while simultaneously creating opportunities to amplify the voices and creative practices of Artist Mothers.
The two-to-four week fully funded residency includes furnished accommodations in a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom home that doubles as the art studio, along with a materials stipend and childcare stipend. Artists are chosen from an open call and application process. Half of the residency slots are dedicated to supporting BIPOC women. The residency hosts one artist and her family at a time with the hopes of inviting two or more artists each session in the future.
Eligibility is international. Entry fee is $35. Categories include Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, and Sculpture.
