Raleigh Fine Arts Society: 2023 North Carolina Artists Exhibition

The Raleigh Fine Arts Society invites North Carolina artists to submit work for the 2023 North Carolina Artists Exhibition. Applicants must be North Carolina residents age 18 and older. Students enrolled in out-of-state institutions are eligible if classified as North Carolina residents and providing a valid NC address. Artists may submit up to two original works created after July 1, 2021. Works previously selected for Raleigh Fine Arts Society exhibitions are ineligible.

Works must not exceed 70 inches in any dimension (including frame) and weigh no more than 50 pounds. All submitted art must be available for purchase; artists receive 70% of the sales price with Raleigh Fine Arts Society receiving 30%. The entry fee is $35.00 for up to two works and is nonrefundable. Entries must be submitted online through CaFÉ with fees received by 5:00 p.m. on July 2, 2023. Submissions begin May 8, 2023. Artists must provide one image per artwork (maximum 5MB file size, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 dpi resolution). Images must be correctly oriented and cropped to show only the artwork without framing or empty space.

The exhibition will be held at the Contemporary Art Museum Raleigh for four weeks, with an opening reception and art sale on Sunday, September 24, 2023, and closing October 22, 2023. Jurors are Dr. Valerie Hillings, Director of the North Carolina Museum of Art, and Dr. Paul Baker, Executive Director at the Contemporary Art Museum Raleigh. Awards totaling $10,000 will be presented: one $5,000 Betsy J. Sykes Award, one $3,000 award from the Joyce Wilkins Pope Endowment, and two $1,000 Juror's Choice Awards. A catalogue will be published featuring selected artists. All artist information for the catalogue, including artist statement (first person) and biographical statement (third person) combined to not exceed 200 words, must be submitted by July 2, 2023 with no changes permitted after that date.
