About This Call

Raleigh Fine Arts Society invites North Carolina artists to submit work for the 2022 North Carolina Artists Exhibition. The exhibition will be held at CAM Raleigh for three months. Juror Nat Trotman, Curator of Performance and Media at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, will select works based on conceptual depth and artistic merit. Trotman states: "I look for conceptually interesting art. A richness behind the work. How the artists' minds are working. How their art connects society to the political realities of the world we are living in. The artist's statement has a huge impact in selecting work. I'm interested in the ideas behind the work, the complementary relationship between the art and the concept."

Eligibility: Applicants must be North Carolina residents age 18 and over. Students enrolled in out-of-state institutions are eligible if classified as North Carolina residents and providing a valid NC address. Artists may submit up to two original works created after January 1, 2018. Works must be no larger than 72 inches in any dimension and weigh no more than 80 pounds. All art must be available for purchase; RFAS receives a 30% commission. Entry fee is $35 for up to two pieces. Submit 1-6 digital images per work (up to 5MB each, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 dpi resolution). All entries will be juried from digital images; awards will be selected from original works.

Awards: Two $1,000 Juror's Choice Awards, one $1,000 Betsy Sykes Award, and the Joyce Wilkins Pope Grand Prize of $3,000. Selected artists will be featured in the exhibition catalogue with space for up to 200 words of artist and biographical statements. Contact [email protected] with questions.
