Rabbit Hole

"Rabbit Hole" is a juried visual art exhibition featuring artworks that focus on the ideas of fantasy, whimsy, imagination, and sense of wonder. All explorations and interpretations of this theme are invited. Artworks in all media, techniques, and styles are encouraged. Open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius.

Artists may submit up to 3 original artworks completed between 2014-2017. Works must not have been exhibited in any juried exhibit in the St. Louis region during the 6 months prior to the exhibit dates or previously exhibited at Art Saint Louis Gallery. Artwork specifications include: 2-D works must be framed or pre-approved presentation; final installation size not to exceed 6 feet wide or 7 feet tall (including frame); 2-D works not to exceed 40 lbs; 3-D works must be pedestal-displayed or wall-hung sculpture; no ceiling-installed work or artworks sitting directly on the gallery floor; no works affixed directly to gallery walls. All works must hang by standard picture hanging hardware. Artists must provide all equipment necessary for video or artwork requiring electricity.

Entry fee is $35 for non-members or $20 for Art Saint Louis members. Judging is conducted online using JPEGs only. Image submissions are limited to 2 JPEGs per artwork (1 full view required and either 1 detail or 1 alternate view). JPEG specifications: minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, 5MB maximum file size. Video submissions are accepted (up to 3 videos) in formats including MP4, MOV, AVI, and others, with minimum 620x480 resolution and maximum 100MB file size. The exhibition will be held at Art Saint Louis Gallery, 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis, from August 5-September 7, 2017, with a free reception on Saturday, August 5, 6-8 p.m. Awards of Excellence include one $250 Best of Show Award and four non-cash Awards of Excellence. Award recipients are eligible for the "Honor Awards 2018" ten-artist curated exhibit presented at Art Saint Louis, June 16-July 19, 2018. All artworks must have a sale price or be marked Not for Sale with an insurance value. Art Saint Louis retains 30% commission on sold work with 70% to the artist.
