Quintessentially We

Quintessentially We is an exhibition celebrating personal experiences and cultural connections through contemporary art. The exhibition explores a wide range of expression including themes such as aging, pregnancy, motherhood, regional/national/international connections, religious identity, ancestral heritage, clothing/hair/body identity, hyphenated cultural experiences, ritual, and familial celebrations. Rather than focusing on a single narrative, the exhibition celebrates the many points of view, life experiences, and artistic visions of selected artists and their connections to tradition, community, family, and history.

Artists are invited to submit up to three works in various forms including painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper, installations, digital art, video, crafts, and textiles. Submissions must include high-resolution images (two views for 3D work), a brief artist statement explaining how the work relates to the theme, and contact information. Only Palm Beach County based artists are eligible to apply. The entry deadline is September 4, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified by September 19, 2024.

The exhibition will be juried by up to three visiting curators, gallerists, and artists and curated by Jessica Ransom, Director of Artist Services for the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. The exhibition runs from November 22, 2024 to January 18, 2025 at the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, 601 Lake Ave., Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460.
