Quilts=Art=Quilts

Quilts=Art=Quilts is an international juried quilt exhibition at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, New York. The Art Center has been presenting quilts in a gallery setting since 1981. Jurors select quilts based on overall quality of design, visual impact, and originality. Prizes are awarded, including $1,000 for Best in Show.

Artists may submit up to 2 original quilts completed in 2018, 2019, 2020, or 2021. Quilts must measure a minimum of 900 square inches total (height x width), with vertical dimensions not exceeding 108 inches. Quilts must be in pristine, show-ready condition with a continuous 3" wide sleeve attached to the back. Quilts with pre-programmed computerized machine quilting or those made from kits, workshops, classes, or commercial patterns are not eligible. Quilts previously exhibited at the Schweinfurth Art Center are not eligible.

Entry fee is $35 for non-members and $30 for current members (call 315-255-1553 for membership promo code). All entries must be made online through the website. Digital images must be submitted in JPEG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, with sRGB color profile. Preliminary acceptance is based on digital images; final acceptance occurs after receipt and examination of the physical quilt. Notification of jury results will be sent September 15, 2021. Quilts must be delivered September 27-October 2, 2021. The exhibition runs October 23, 2021-January 9, 2022, with an artist reception and awards on Saturday, October 23, 5-8pm. Return shipping begins January 12, 2022. The Art Center retains a 25% commission on all sales made during the exhibition. Artists are responsible for packing, shipping, and insurance of work to and from the Art Center.
