Quilted: Textures, Colors, and Traditions

6th Street Studios & Art Center presents the 3rd Annual Dia de los Muertos exhibition, celebrating the Day of the Dead in both in-person and online formats. The show will be exhibited alongside an annual display of shoe box altars by South Valley Middle School. One local artist will be selected to build a center-piece offerenda and will receive a $100 stipend. Best in Show receives a $50 award (one selection between online and in-person).

The window gallery is located on a main road in downtown Gilroy and is lit and visible 24/7. In-person hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9am-2pm. The artist reception will be held October 20 from 5-8pm during the Third Friday Art Walk. The exhibition will also feature offerendas by local artists participating in the La Offerenda Festival on October 28, 2023.

Entry fee is $25.00 with an additional $10.00 media fee per entry. Submit 3-5 high resolution images and up to 3 videos with your application. Acceptance dates are September 26-28, with an information submission deadline of September 29. Drop-off dates are September 29, October 2-5 (9am-2pm) or by appointment. Exhibition dates are October 7 - November 2. Pick up works November 3 or November 6 (9am-2pm) or by appointment. Anyone can apply for the online exhibition. For in-person participation, artists must be able to drop off and pick up their works. The organization does not ship works.
