PWS Celebrates 75+1 Years

Pittsburgh Watercolor Society (PWS) presents Celebrating 75+1 Years of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society in collaboration with The Westmoreland Museum of American Art and the Greensburg Art Center. This juried member-only exhibition runs July 23 through September 26 at Robertshaw Gallery (The Westmoreland Museum of American Art) and Rowe Gallery (Greensburg Art Center). Originally scheduled for summer 2020, the exhibition was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Eligibility is limited to PWS exhibiting members working primarily with water-based media on unvarnished paper surfaces (YUPO and Tyvek permitted). Acceptable media includes watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, and egg tempera. No pastels, class work, digital images, prints, reproductions, or 3-D work. Collage is limited to 10%. Each member may submit one or two works framed no larger than 36 inches in any direction, framed under glass or Plexiglas, completed within the past 3 years, and not previously exhibited in any PWS show. All work must be original and for sale. Artists receive 70% of sales price.

Entry fee is $25. Registration deadline is May 29, 2021 at midnight. Acceptance notifications will be sent by June 19. Work delivery is July 17, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The opening reception is July 23, 6-9 p.m. (Robertshaw Gallery 6-7:30 p.m., Rowe Gallery 7-8:30 p.m., with a post-party at Greensburg Art Center 9-10:30 p.m.). Jurors are Barbara Jones, Chief Curator at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, and Susan Laansma Pollins. First, Second, and Third place awards will be presented at the opening reception at each location.
