About This Call
Pittsburgh Watercolor Society (PWS) presents Celebrating 75 Years of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, an all-exhibiting member juried exhibition running June through early August 2020 at three locations simultaneously: Robertshaw Gallery at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Harlan Gallery at Seton Hill University, and Rowe Gallery at Greensburg Art Center. This is the featured event for the PWS 75th Anniversary.
Jurors for this special anniversary exhibition are Barbara Jones (Chief Curator at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art), Susan Laansma Pollins (B.S in Design University of Michigan, AAP, Master Visual Artist VII, past president and board member of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society), and Kenneth Nicholson (artist and arts educator with an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts). The jurors will select works to be included at all three locations, and artists may have works accepted into multiple venues. Artists will be notified of selection by April 24.
Eligibility: Open to PWS exhibiting members only, working primarily with water-based media on unvarnished paper surface (YUPO and Tyvek permitted). Acceptable media includes watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, and egg tempera. No pastels, class work, digital images, prints, reproductions, or 3-D work. Collage limited to 10%. Each member may submit one to three works no larger than 30" in any direction, framed and ready to install under glass or Plexiglass. Work must be completed within the past 3 years and not previously exhibited in any PWS show. All work must be for sale; artist receives 70% of sales price. Entry fee: $25. Digital images must be professional quality in high-quality jpg format, 1920 or greater pixels on the long side, at least 72 dpi resolution, and 5 MB or less. Important dates: Registration deadline April 10, 2020 midnight; Notice of Acceptance April 24; Deliver Work May 28, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.; Opening Reception June 6. Awards (First, Second, and Third place) will be presented at opening reception at each location.
