Putnam County Mural Project Seeks Artists for 2026 Season

The Putnam County Mural Project invites muralists from across the United States to apply for six new major mural commissions to be installed throughout the county in September 2026. Commission fees range from $3,500 to $10,000 for artist design, materials and labor. Site prep, coatings, lifts, and signage will be provided outside of this fee. The six mural locations are: Moose Lodge wall (212 W. Franklin St., Greencastle), Three G Bowling Alley wall (1250 S. Jackson St., Greencastle), The Bodega wall (16 S. Jackson St, Greencastle), Putnam County Comprehensive Services wall (630 Tennessee St., Greencastle), Shady Dale Chic Boutique wall (9 Market St., Cloverdale), and Dillinger Building wall (22 W. Washington St., Greencastle).

Since its founding in 2019, the Putnam County Mural Project has worked to enrich lives through large-scale public art by activating space, building artistic capacity and celebrating community identity. The project has expanded through collaborative mural festivals, producing murals in communities including Greencastle, Bainbridge, Reelsville, Russellville, Roachdale, Cloverdale and Fillmore, engaging thousands of community members over multiple years.

Application deadline is March 27, 2026 at 11:59pm EST. Selected artists will be notified May 8, 2026. Draft designs are due June 15, 2026, with final designs due June 30, 2026. All materials must be ordered by July 15, 2026. The Mural Festival will take place September 5-19, 2026, with all walls to be completed during this time.
