Pushing Paper

The Indianapolis Art Center is calling for entries for a national juried exhibition titled "Pushing Paper" focusing on new and innovative artwork made of, on, or about paper-based materials. The exhibition is open to artists 18 or older living in the United States. Work must be made within the last two years and cannot have been previously shown at the Art Center. All work must be original and made by the artist or artist team; collaborative works are eligible. Each artist or artist team may submit up to two pieces.

All media are eligible, although work must have a tie-in to paper as a material element or subject matter. 2D artwork must not weigh more than 250 pounds or be bigger than 10' x 10'. Installation artists should contact the Art Center before applying. The entry fee is $25 (non-refundable) for the submission of two pieces. Work must be submitted as 1-2 images and optionally 1 video. The exhibition will be juried by Kyle Herrington, Director of Exhibitions and Events at the Indianapolis Art Center.

Cash awards total $4,000: Best in Show ($1,500), Best in 2D including video ($500), Best in 3D including installation ($500), and five Honorable Mentions ($200 each). Awards will be announced at the Opening Reception on February 8, 2019 (6-9 p.m.). Accepted work must remain on display until April 10, 2019. All work must arrive by January 31, 2019; artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance. The Art Center retains a 35% commission on all sales. Notifications will be sent via email on December 7, 2018.
