About This Call
Dallas Heritage Village seeks artwork in all media exploring issues or telling stories relating to the women's suffrage movement, voting rights throughout history, or women's political participation today. This exhibition marks the centennial of the 19th amendment.
Dallas Heritage Village is an immersive history museum located in the historic Cedars neighborhood, just south of downtown Dallas. Art will be exhibited inside selected historic structures including Pilot Grove Church, Renner School, Doctor's Office, Saloon, Bank/Dentist's Office, Worth Hotel, Browder Springs Hall, Section House, and Shotgun House. All buildings are climate controlled. Preference will be given to work connecting to Dallas women's history stories. Work will be selected by a jury including DHV Executive Director Melissa Prycer, a local artist, and a community representative.
Art in all media will be considered. All two-dimensional art must be properly wired and suitable for hanging. Three-dimensional art must be fully stable to stand on its own or be attached to a stable base for pedestals (pedestals are limited). Artists using electronic equipment must provide their own. All art must fit through a 30 in x 70 in door. Artists may submit up to three works. Work samples may include 1-5 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files (maximum 11 total samples). Entry fee is $20. Exhibition dates: March 29 - July 4, 2020. Reception: March 26. Artist Open House: January 19, noon-3 p.m. Selection notification: February 17. In-person delivery: March 16, 4-7 p.m. Shipped artwork must arrive March 11-18. Artwork pickup: July 9, 4-7 p.m. Shipped artwork returns the week of July 27. Dallas Heritage Village requests a 10% donation on all art sold during the exhibition.
