Purely Abstract

Artists are invited to submit original artwork for the 'Purely Abstract' exhibit at the Kavanagh Gallery of Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois. The exhibit features artwork in any media that expresses artists' ideas in a non-representational way. Abstract work explores ideas and experiences through color, form, shape, and line, grounded in the imagination of the artist rather than visual perception of the natural world. Both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work will be accepted.

The show runs October 16 – November 21, 2020. Purely Abstract is open to all artists eighteen years and older who reside and work in the United States. Artists need not be present while the show is open, though attendance at the opening reception is strongly encouraged. Fine Line handles show installation, the opening reception, and all sales. A 30% sales commission applies to any artwork sold. $800 in prizes will be awarded based on creativity, quality, artistry, and originality.

Requirements: Artists must be at least 18 years old and may submit up to 3 pieces. Images must be of actual work to be exhibited. Artwork must be original, completed in the last two years, and not previously shown at Fine Line. All pieces must be for sale. Entry fee is $35 (non-refundable). An artist statement limited to 1000 characters is required and will be displayed during the show. Jury notification will be sent on or before August 15, 2020. Artwork packed for shipping cannot exceed 48 inches x 32 inches x 6 feet and cannot exceed 50 pounds. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from Fine Line and must include a return shipping label. Hanging work should have wire and screw eyes, French cleats, or other professional hanging devices. Fine Line provides 24/7 security and insurance coverage from receipt of work until the end of the show at 70% of sale price. Insurance during shipping is the artist's responsibility.
