Punching Marshmallows: Rage, Uncertainty and Fatigue

Remarque/New Grounds Print Workshop & Gallery invites printmakers and photographers from around the world to submit work for the exhibition "Punching Marshmallows: Rage, Uncertainty and Fatigue," to be held at Remarque Print Workshop and Gallery in Albuquerque, NM from July 10–August 29, 2020.

This call seeks hand-printed photographic imagery using alternative processes, such as photogravure, photopolymer intaglio, cyanotype, gum bichromate, carbon, salt, lumen, anthotype, gumoil, or any alternative to straight digital printing. Work should explore the boundaries between photography and printmaking and involve some form of hand-work. The theme "Punching Marshmallows" can be widely interpreted—literally, figuratively, expressively, psychologically, or visually. The exhibition seeks images that explore feelings of frustration, helplessness, fear, and anger. For questions about process suitability, contact [email protected].

Submit 3 to 5 images with a maximum paper size of 16 x 20" or 20 x 16". Entry fee is $30 USD (non-refundable). Entries must be submitted via CAFE by May 24, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. All entries must be marked "For Sale." Artists will be notified of jury results by June 2, 2020. Accepted works must arrive by June 25, 2020 and will be archivally framed and displayed at no cost to artists beyond shipping. Remarque retains 50% of the retail price; artists receive 50%. Payment will be made within thirty days of the exhibition's end via check or PayPal. Artists grant Remarque the right to use their images for marketing the exhibition with artist recognition provided.
