About This Call

Intersect Arts Center is accepting proposals for Sculpture Park & Gardens PHASE 1, located in the Gravois Park neighborhood of St. Louis. This public art initiative invites artists to transform currently inaccessible private property adjoining Intersect Arts Center into an immersive sanctuary for rest, play, and gathering open to the public. Art, landscape, and infrastructure coexist in this project, engaging visitors and residents in dialogue with the environment.

Artists are invited to propose works that activate the park as a multi-sensory experience, engaging in storytelling through touch, sound, and movement. Proposals should consider the park's unique ecological and urban infrastructural context and seek ways that art can serve as a catalyst for community connection, identity, play, and environmental awareness. The park will be a place where visitors of all ages experience both the physicality and history of the land.

PHASE 1 includes multiple components: Event Terrace/Mosaic Mural Patio (2,000 sq. ft., $80,000 budget); Screens/Fencing with murals, woodworks, and metal works ($8,000); Linden Tree Gathering platform/treehouse ($10,000); Lighting ($5,000); Moveable Seating, Tables, and Gathering Furniture ($5,000); Mosaic/Mural Pathways ($10,000); and Street Entrance Gate ($5,000). Planning phase runs June-December 2025, with implementation in 2026-2027. Decisions are rolling. Artists must have previous experience with large-scale projects and submit a portfolio of up to 20 images demonstrating capability in similar projects, along with concept sketches or renderings for the site. Entry fee is $50. International artists are eligible.
