About This Call
Group Creative Services is seeking artists and collectives with diverse, interdisciplinary practices to engage with communities throughout the midwest through the proposal and development of public art. This is a request for qualifications. Once invited to develop a proposal, artists are always compensated for concept development and presentation.
Projects range in scope and scale, with budgets from $10,000 to $250,000+. The organization is specifically interested in artists who can propose and execute public artwork based on unique criteria from given communities, moving beyond standard approaches to engage with place-making and community ideas. Two immediate opportunities include: "Art Alley," which involves designing and installing public artworks in a corridor connecting a regional trail to a suburban Des Moines community, and "Downtown Entryway," which involves designing and installing a site-specific public artwork engaging residents and visitors at an entrance to a suburban Des Moines community.
Eligibility: Applicants must be over 18, able to work in the United States, and open to explorations of process and community engagement through public art. Application requirements include website URL, CV/resume, and artist statement. Minimum 3 images required; maximum 10 images.
