About This Call

The City and County of Broomfield Public Art Committee seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create integrated public art work for the new Health and Human Services Building located at 100 Spader Way, Broomfield, Colorado. The PAC will select semifinalists who will be paid an honorarium for their proposals. Finalists will provide refined concepts, a maquette and work plans as requested. Installation is targeted for completion by February 2016.

The public art project will integrate into the design and build of the new building, focusing on two priority areas: announcing the building through a statement public art installation at the east entryway and lobby, and welcoming clients through an engaging and welcoming space in the building's interior first floor hallway. The total project budget is up to $70,000 and must be all-inclusive, covering design fees, travel expenses, all materials and fabrication costs, architect/engineering fees, shipping and transportation, installation costs, and commercial liability insurance. Any expenses exceeding the contracted amount are the artist's responsibility.

Submission requirements include a resume/CV, three professional references, a one to two page letter of interest outlining qualifications and relevant experience, and 6-8 media images. All materials must be submitted online via the CAFÉ online application system with no application fee. The entry deadline is March 18, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Semi-finalists will be selected by April 8, with the finalist selected by June 8. Artist honorarium for selected finalists ranges from $1,000-$3,000. Artwork must reflect artistic excellence, timelessness, site compatibility, enduring design elements, permanence and safety, and diversity. Materials must be durable and able to withstand harsh sun, high winds, temperature fluctuations, and moisture with little or no maintenance.
