About This Call
The Napa Senior Center recently reopened after 9 months of construction. The updated facility creates an opportunity for a permanent outdoor art installation that will be highly visible from both outside and inside the Senior Center. Only completed artworks are eligible; conceptual artwork proposals will not be considered.
Eligibility: Applicants must be currently living or working in CA, OR, NV, CO, WA, AZ, ID, or UT, and must be at least 50 years of age to represent the Senior Center community. Napa City employees and their immediate family members are not eligible.
Artwork Requirements: Artworks must be structurally safe for the general public, including children, and extremely durable in outdoor conditions with limited maintenance required. The artwork base must be no larger than 6 feet and must be able to be securely anchored to a concrete pad. A plaque with the artist name, studio location/home, and sculpture information will be provided and installed by the City. Selection will be based on artistic merit, artistic context, maintainability, and location context. The proposed budget is $15,000 to cover artist stipend, materials, transportation, and installation. Work samples should include 1-6 images and/or 0-6 videos (1-12 total samples maximum).
