Public Art for the New Wishard

Wishard Health Services is seeking qualified artists for public art opportunities at its new healthcare facility currently under construction. This RFQ is a step in identifying artists with the skills and vision to execute projects for the New Wishard. Artists selected through this process may be compensated to produce artwork proposals through a limited-pool RFP process, or may be directly selected from the qualified pool for commissioning or purchase of work. No work is guaranteed by virtue of submission.

Public art at Wishard will reflect the organization's heritage, culture, client base and service mission while continuing the original 1914 concept of the healing power of art. Artwork should complement the site, architecture and medical program, contribute to placemaking and wayfinding, and create a unique identity for Wishard within the IUPUI campus. Major areas for artwork include the Wishard Commons, Hospital building, Main Concourse, Ambulatory Clinic Building, and other public sites on the 37-acre campus.

U.S.-based professional artists over 18 working in any style are eligible, including artist teams. Artists working in painting, printmaking, sculpture, architectural art glass, stone, wood, photography, fiber, glass, ceramic tile, metal, light, and new media are encouraged to apply. Submissions will be evaluated on demonstrated creative and innovative approaches, design sense and craftsmanship, potential to address themes relevant to Wishard and its populations, ability to deliver projects on time and budget, and professional working relationships. The submission deadline is August 16, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via CaFE. Notification of results will occur in early September 2010.
