PSYCHEDELIA at Art Works Downtown

Art Works Downtown seeks artwork by SF Bay Area artists for the exhibition Psychedelia. Submissions should evoke the vibrancy of psychedelic art using methods such as distortion, surrealism, bright colors, full spectrums, fragmentation, warped shapes, or other creative ways of rendering altered consciousness. The intent of this exhibition is to honor psychedelic art by celebrating its manifestation in the artwork of today. Jurors are Kim Larson and Bradley Platz of Modern Eden Gallery.

Eligibility is limited to SF Bay Area artists only; applicants must live within 100 miles from San Rafael, California. The exhibition is open to all visual arts media. Video must include player, monitor, and earphones; projections are prohibited. Artwork must not exceed 72" by any dimension, including frame and all materials. Original artwork only; no reproductions, though editions are acceptable. Submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. Entry fee is $40.00. Submissions are accepted through CallForEntry.org only; hardcopy, email, and disk submissions are not accepted. Work sample requirements: up to 3 images and/or up to 3 videos (maximum 3 total samples).

Exhibition dates are June 19–July 31, 2020. Entry deadline is May 15 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification by email will be sent May 22 or 23. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on June 13. A reception and 2nd Friday Art Walk will be held July 10, 5–8 p.m. Unsold artwork pickup is August 1, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation upon sale. If artwork is not retrieved by the pickup deadline, a storage fee of $3.00 per day will be charged, and works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown. In the event the gallery must close due to Shelter in Place ordinance, AWD guarantees an online exhibition including images of all accepted artworks with promotion through social media and email, and an increase in the quantity of accepted entries.
