About This Call
PROUD+ is the sixth national exhibition of LGBTQIA+ visual arts running from June 29 - July 29, 2023 at The Studio Door in San Diego, CA. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and other related community artists (LGBTQIA+) are encouraged to present contemporary works that celebrate the unique sense of pride that this diverse community has. The Studio Door is seeking artwork that expresses authentic, diverse viewpoints from the LGBTQIA+ experience.
Entry fee is $35 for one artwork, $40 for two artworks, or $45 for three artworks. Submissions must be made through CAFÉ (Callforentry.org) by May 30, 2023 at 10:59 PM PST. Artists can submit 1-3 images of artwork. 2-D artwork must be gallery ready and ready to hang, preferably in black wood or natural wood frame with plexi only (no glass). 3-D sculptural and small installation work is encouraged and must fit through an average doorway and not exceed 8 feet in height. 2-D work maximum size: Height 7.5 feet, Width 4 feet including frame.
The juror is Jonathan D. Katz, Associate Professor of Practice at University of Pennsylvania. Three artists will receive a Juror's Award certificate and $100 check for artworks that express the most imaginative interpretation of the theme. The juror will select works for both the physical gallery exhibition and an online gallery. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show and will be included in the national exhibition catalog. A public reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 6 PM - 9 PM. Artists will be notified by June 3, 2023. Shipped artwork must be received by June 23, 2023. Hand-delivery is available Saturday, June 24 from Noon - 6 PM. Artwork pickup is Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from Noon - 6 PM. Sales are split 50/50 between artist and gallery, with items sold remaining on exhibit for the duration of the show.
