PROUD+ 2021

PROUD+ is a national exhibition of visual arts running from July 3-30, 2021 at The Studio Door in San Diego, CA. The exhibition celebrates LGBTQIA+ artists and encourages submissions of contemporary works that express authentic, diverse viewpoints from the LGBTQIA+ experience. The exhibition runs concurrent with San Diego Pride month.

Accepted categories include fine art such as painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist books, ceramics, stoneware, stained glass, and sculpture. Oversized jewelry that can be defined as fine art is acceptable. Performance art is not accepted. Video, film, installation, and works requiring external electrical sources require gallery approval before submission. All artwork must be original work by the artist and available for sale. Artwork must be submitted as 1-3 images through CAFÉ. The entry fee is $35 for one work, $40 for two works, or $45 for three works. The submission deadline is May 31, 2021 at 10:59 PM PST.

Selected works will be exhibited at The Studio Door gallery in San Diego and/or in an online gallery. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show awards, with three juror's award certificates and $100 checks presented for the most imaginative interpretations of the theme. Artists will be notified by June 5, 2021. Shipped artwork must be received by June 25, 2021, or hand-delivered on June 26. For sales, 60% goes to the artist and 40% to The Studio Door. The juror is Alexis Bard Johnson, PhD, Curator at ONE Archives at the USC Libraries.
