Project Open Call: Fall 2024

SUNY Oneonta Art Galleries invites current students to exhibit work on campus during the Fall 2024 semester. Two track options are available: the Curated Group Show track and the Artist as Curator track. Exhibition dates and selected work will be announced in May 2024.

Curated Group Show Track: Submit singular works or limited series for consideration in a curated group exhibition in the Project Space Gallery or Open Space Gallery. The exhibition will be juried by the Gallery Advisory Committee and curated by the Gallery Director. Students can apply up to three times with three individual pieces, submitting a separate application for each piece. Series of works are accepted as an individual piece if the application clearly states the final number of works and each work's dimensions, and the series demonstrates cohesiveness in theme or content. Works do not have to be complete at submission but must be complete at least one month before the exhibition opens. Applications with works in progress must include an image of the current state and a description of the final work.

Artist as Curator Track: Submit solo show or thematic group show ideas to be curated by the proposing student(s) and installed in the Project Space Gallery or Open Space Gallery. Proposals will be reviewed by the Gallery Advisory Committee and Gallery Director. Individual students may submit one proposal per open call; group proposals are also accepted. All proposed works do not have to be complete at submission but must be complete at least one month before the exhibition opens.

Eligibility: You must be a current SUNY Oneonta student available on site during the Fall 2024 semester. A faculty sponsor from the Art Department is required for all applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Students are responsible for installing and de-installing their shows, with gallery staff available for assistance. Student artwork will not be insured. SUNY Oneonta, the art department, gallery director, and faculty sponsor are not responsible for any damage or loss of artwork. You are not required to frame your work, but you are responsible for all costs and labor if you choose to frame it. Project Space Gallery is open Tuesday–Saturday from 11am–4pm when classes are in session. Open Space Gallery is open when the Fine Arts Center is open. Opening receptions will be held from 4–6pm on dates to be decided upon acceptance of work.
