About This Call
The Curtis Hotel is under redevelopment at 1405 Curtis Street in downtown Denver, Colorado. The hotel will consist of 336 rooms, a high-energy restaurant named "The Office", and over 22,000 square feet of meeting space. The building will also include 125 student apartments, a high-end restaurant, and 360 parking spaces. The Curtis Hotel will be positioned as a moderately priced, independent hotel with a retro, cool, fun feel.
CPI-Sage and the Denver Urban Renewal Authority are seeking public art proposals for the exterior of the building from the corner of Curtis and 14th streets along 14th Street to the end of the hotel tower (approximately 60 feet long), with heights capturing 12-14 feet from the ground. Proposals outside these boundaries will be considered. The art should be pedestrian friendly and engage visitors to 14th Street and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The project art budget is $210,550, all of which must benefit and be accessible to the public.
Submission requirements include: 4 artwork images of completed artworks, 1 proposal image (basic rendered sketch or detailed rendering), an artist's statement limited to 1000 characters, a one-page concept narrative outlining the plan, and a current resume with experience in public art projects or commissions. The proposal image must be formatted as a JPEG in 1920 x 1920 pixel format. Deadline to submit via CAFE is Midnight (MST) on 3/24/2006. For questions, contact Walter Isenberg at [email protected] with "Public Art RFP" in the subject line.
