Printmaking: Process and Possibility

The Marin Society of Artists (MSA) is announcing the first exhibition of original hand-pulled fine art prints in its 98-year history. The exhibition will include printmaking workshops and presentations scheduled during the run of the show.

Eligible work includes prints created using traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques: intaglio, relief, lithography, screenprints, monotypes, and monoprints. Prints that are primarily digital, photographic, or reproductive are not eligible. Open to all artists in the United States 18 years of age and older. Submit 1-3 images of your work (JPG/JPEG format, 1200 pixels minimum on longest side, under 5MB, sRGB). Include a brief description of techniques used (400 characters maximum). Entry fee is $35.

All prints must be professionally framed with acrylic or equivalent glazing (no glass, no sawtooth hangers). Work cannot exceed 60" in height or width including frame; 3D artwork not to exceed 48"x48"x48" and 50 pounds. Awards: First Prize $400, Second Prize $200, Third Prize $100, plus Honorable Mention awards at juror's discretion. Juror is Eileen Macdonald, Professor of Printmaking at California State University, Chico. Entry deadline: September 5, 2025. Notification: September 19, 2025. Exhibition dates: October 8 - November 1, 2025. Reception: Friday, October 10, 2025, 5-8 p.m. at 1515 Third Street, San Rafael, CA. Hand delivery of accepted artwork required on October 5-6, 2025. Pickup: November 2-3, 2025.
