Printmaking Plus

Printmaking Plus is a national call for entries seeking creative and innovative approaches to printmaking in conjunction with the Mo'Print, Month of Printmaking Celebration. The juror, Master Printer Mark Lunning, brings 30 years of experience working with artists and printmaking styles to select the best examples of current printmaking. Works are limited to a maximum of 36" height by 24" width, including frame. Prints (copies) of already made artwork are not accepted.

Printmaking is the process of creating artworks by printing, normally on paper, but can be on other surfaces including fabric, plastic, and wood. It includes intaglio (etching, mezzotint, aquatint, engraving, dry point, collagraph), relief, lithography, serigraph (screen print), and monotype. The design is created on the matrix or surface, which is then inked to transfer it onto the desired surface. More than one version of the original can be created as an edition, a series of monoprints can be created by adding to each one, or just one monotype can be created.

The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older. All work must be original in concept and not copied from another artist's work. No installations, artwork requiring special technical installation or intensive assembly, or performance-based work will be accepted. Entry fee is $35 for up to three art pieces. Four prizes will be presented: Best of Show ($200) and three Honorable Mentions ($100 each). Results will be emailed by November 25, 2019. Accepted work will be exhibited at D'art Gallery, located at 900 Santa Fe Drive in Denver, from January 2–26, 2020. Shipping and return shipping costs and insurance are the responsibility of the artist. Shipped work must arrive by December 27, 2019. Artists may hand-deliver accepted artwork December 28–29, 2019, between noon and 3 PM. All accepted artwork must be received by December 29, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. Any artwork sold will incur a 25% commission. Pick-up is January 26 after 3:00 PM, unless other arrangements are made with the gallery.
