Printing the Bay Area

Printing the Bay Area is an exhibition of printmaking work running June 13-July 25, 2014 at Art Works Downtown in San Rafael, California. The exhibition is juried by Tom Killion, a Northern California landscape printmaker and book artist.

Eligibility is limited to San Francisco Bay Area artists within 100 miles of San Rafael, California. Only original printmaking artwork is accepted; reproductions such as giclées are prohibited. Submissions should express or allude to the theme. All printmaking techniques and compositions are considered, with preference given to Bay Area-related images portraying themes of landscape, urbanscape, people, culture, or the essence of the Bay Area.

The entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries, with discounts available for AWD Artists and Associate Artists. Submissions must be made online via CallForEntry.org; hardcopy, email, and disk submissions are not accepted. Artists will be notified by email or phone of acceptance by May 23-24. Accepted work must be hand-delivered to the gallery at 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael on Saturday, June 7 between 10am-4pm. Work must be prepared to install with wall-hung pieces securely wired. An artist statement and resume should be delivered with the work. The artist must sign a consignment contract upon delivery. Unsold work may be picked up on Saturday, July 26 between 10am-4pm; works not retrieved will incur a storage fee of $1.00 per day and become property of Art Works Downtown after 30 days. Upon sale, Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation of the artwork's value from the artist. Coverage for exhibited work is based on insured value entered on the entry form; artists may provide additional insurance. Art Works Downtown is not responsible for loss or damage from any cause. Artists permit AWD to use accepted images for AWD promotions.
