PrintAustin and Print Santa Fe 5x5

PrintAustin and Print Santa Fe present the 5x5 exhibition, a juried competition open to local and international artists 18 years or older. The exhibition will exist as both an in-person and virtual platform. In-person exhibitions will be held at Austin's Link & Pin Gallery (January 15–February 15, 2023) and Santa Fe's Form & Concept (April 2023), with virtual presentations at printaustin.org and printsantafe.org.

Each 5x5 exhibition will feature five artists selected based on their collective submission. Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend, an invitation to participate in an Instagram Residency, opportunities to participate in additional programming such as IGTV, Zoom conferences, podcasts, or panel discussions, an Artist Feature in weekly e-newsletter blasts, and an in-person exhibition. It is possible that some of PrintAustin's 5x5 works will be invited to join Print Santa Fe's 5x5 exhibition, with PrintAustin providing transportation after the artist agrees.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years or older. Any 2-D or 3-D work including ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and artist books that uses printmaking as the sole or primary technique is eligible. Submissions must utilize traditional print media as their primary technique, including lithography, relief, intaglio, silkscreen, photopolymer plate (SolarPlates), and monotype. Solely digital and photographic prints are not eligible. Works must have been produced within the last 5 years and cannot have been exhibited in past PrintAustin juried exhibitions. Artists are limited to one application and must submit five cohesive artworks. Work sample requirements: up to 5 images, up to 5 videos, maximum 5 total samples.

Entry fees: $2 for PrintAustin members, $35 for non-members. Limited comped entries are available for artists unable to pay the application fee; contact [email protected]. Jury dates: November 1–30, 2022. Judging is blind and works will be judged on traditional printmaking techniques and innovative approaches in contemporary printmaking. Jurors include Holly Borham, Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and European Art at the Blanton Museum of Art, and Jordan Eddy, director of Form & Concept and Zane Bennett Contemporary Art. Artist and gallery split exhibition commissions 70/30 (Link & Pin/PrintAustin) or 50/50 (Form & Concept, TBD).
