About This Call
PrintAustin announces the 4th iteration of 5X5, a juried exhibition with juror J Myszka Lewis. The exhibition will be published online and feature an in-person element at Georgetown Arts Center in Georgetown, TX, running January 12-February 11, 2024. Five artists will be selected based on their collective submission of five works.
Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend, a catalog of the exhibition, a podcast interview with either Hello, Print Friend or Studio Noize, an invitation to participate in PrintAustin's Instagram Residency for up to 3 days, opportunities to participate in additional programming such as IGTV, Zoom conferences, podcasts, or panel discussions, an artist feature in a weekly e-newsletter during PrintAustin 2024, and work chosen to hang in the in-person exhibition.
Judging is blind and works will be judged on traditional printmaking techniques and innovative approaches in contemporary printmaking. Submissions must utilize traditional print media as the primary technique, including lithography, relief, intaglio, silkscreen, photopolymer plate (SolarPlates), and monotype. Solely digital and photographic prints are not eligible. Open to local and international artists 18 years or older. Any 2-D or 3-D work including ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and artist books that uses printmaking as the sole or primary technique is eligible. Works that have exhibited in past PrintAustin juried exhibitions are not eligible. Work must be produced within the last 5 years. Artists are limited to one application and must submit five cohesive artworks. Entry fee is $35 for non-members and $10 for PrintAustin members. Limited comped entries are available; contact [email protected] for details. For in-person exhibition sales, artist and Georgetown Art Center split commission 50/50. For virtual exhibition sales, artist receives 70% commission and PrintAustin receives 30% commission. Artists are responsible for shipping artwork within 2 weeks from date of sale.
