PrintAustin 5 x 5

PrintAustin announces the open call for its 2nd annual juried exhibition, the 5x5. The exhibition will exist mostly as a virtual platform with in-depth Artist Features and online programming, but will have an in-person element at Ivester Contemporary that overlaps with the annual festival. Five artists will be selected based on their collective submission.

Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend, an invitation to participate in an Instagram Residency where they take over PrintAustin's Instagram account for up to 3 days, the opportunity to participate in additional programming such as IGTV, Zoom conference, podcast, or panel discussion, an Artist Feature in a weekly e-newsletter during PrintAustin 2022, and one piece chosen to hang in the in-person exhibition at Ivester Contemporary from December 11, 2021 to January 22, 2022.

Open to local and international artists 18 years or older. Any 2-D or 3-D work including ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and artist books that uses printmaking as the sole or primary technique is eligible. Eligible traditional print media include lithography, relief, intaglio, silkscreen, photopolymer plate (SolarPlates), and monotype. Solely digital and photographic prints are not eligible. Works must be produced within the last 5 years and cannot have exhibited in past PrintAustin juried exhibitions. Artists are limited to one application and must submit five cohesive artworks. Entry fee is $35 for non-members or $1 for PrintAustin members. Limited comped entries are available for artists unable to pay the fee; contact [email protected]. Juror is Caitlin Clay, Curator of Exhibitions at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. Works will be judged on traditional printmaking techniques and innovative approaches in contemporary printmaking.
