About This Call
The Rhode Island Watercolor Society invites submissions for Primary Colors, a juried exhibition open to all 2D media (excluding photography and digital art). The theme explores the use of red, yellow, and blue as primary colors in artwork. The exhibition will take place both online and in person at the gallery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island from July 27th through August 30th, with a show opening reception on July 27th.
Eligibility requirements include: work must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show; work must have been completed within the last 10 years; work may not be copied from copyrighted material or created under the direct guidance of another artist or from a tutorial; and pieces may not exceed 48 inches on the longest side (including frame). Acceptable 2D media include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, collage, mixed media, monotype, and egg tempera on surfaces such as watercolor paper, canvas, rice paper, and illustration board. Work must be framed or professionally presented, with framed work under glass or Plexiglas and wired with no visible wire or hanger.
Submission requires 1-3 digital images at $20 per entry for non-members or $15 per entry for members. Drop-off and shipping dates are July 11th-25th (Thursdays & Fridays 10am-4pm, Saturdays 10am-3pm; closed July 18th & 20th, open July 19th for drop-off only 10am-3pm). Notification of acceptance is July 11th. Pickup and return shipping dates are August 30th-September 20th. The juror is Arnie Casavant. If work is sold, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale.
