About This Call

Pressing Matters is a regional juried exhibition of original artist prints celebrating Denver's Mo'Print. The show is open to Colorado artists at least 18 years of age. Eligible work includes any original print (no giclees, offset lithography, laser or computer prints). Hand-crafted fine art prints in the following techniques are accepted: Relief, Lithography, Silkscreen, Intaglio (etching, drypoint, engraving, polymer, collograph, mezzotint and photogravure), Monotypes and Monoprints. Work must have been completed in the last two years (2011-present). 2-D prints must be framed and ready to hang; 3-D work must include installation instructions.

Submissions are made online via CAFÉ at www.callforentry.org. Each piece submitted requires a $10 entry fee, with an additional $10 media fee for each image beyond the first. Submissions may include a maximum of two images per piece, with 1-10 total samples accepted. All artwork entered must be for sale, with the artist receiving 60% of the sale price. Sale proceeds will be paid to the artist within 30 days of the end of the show. By submitting artwork, the artist agrees that images of selected artwork and submitted text can be used by ASLD for promotions and publications.

Artists will be notified of selection via email no later than February 1, 2014. All shipping and shipping insurance costs to and from the gallery are the responsibility of the artist. Artwork is insured for 60% of its retail value against theft or total loss while on premises. ASLD reserves the right not to exhibit any piece that does not reasonably match the work presented in the entry, which arrives damaged, is not properly prepared for exhibition, or is deemed too fragile for effective display. Designated awards for select artworks (up to $500 in value) are available at the jurors' discretion. Jurors include ASLD Printmaking Faculty Mark Friday, Theresa Haberkorn, Joe Higgins, and Mark Lunning. The exhibition opens March 3, 2014, with an opening reception on March 7, 2014, 6-9 pm. The exhibit closes April 23, 2014, with work returned to artists the week of May 5, 2014.
