Pressing Matters 2018 Exhibition for Print Arts

Pressing Matters 2018 is Whiteaker Printmakers' second juried printmaking exhibition, held at the Emerald Art Center in Springfield, Oregon. All traditional (hand-pulled) printmaking techniques are eligible for entry. No digital prints are accepted. The juror is Margaret Prentice, Professor Emerita in the Art Department at the University of Oregon.

All print artists currently residing in the U.S. and 18 or older may submit up to 3 original, hand-pulled prints in any traditional printmaking technique, including etching, monotype, mezzotint, woodcut, linocut, screen print, and lithography. Entries must be no larger than 24 x 24 inches (including frame), suitably framed or mounted with wire hangers, and total depth should not exceed 2 inches. Each entry must include a title (or be noted as "Untitled") and a medium description. Entry fee is $30.00.

Four entries will be selected for cash awards: $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and two $100 awards for third place (one award per artist). All accepted entries will be offered for sale; artists must include a sale price at submission. Whiteaker Printmakers and Emerald Arts Center will retain a 40% commission on sales. Unsold works will be returned after the exhibition closes. The exhibition runs November 6-30, 2018, with a reception on November 9. Acceptance notifications will be sent by October 1, 2018. Artwork delivery is October 15-26, and returns will be shipped December 3-8. Award checks will be mailed by November 12, 2018.
