Pressing Matters 2016 Exhibition for Print Arts

Whiteaker Printmakers, a community printmaking studio in Eugene, Oregon, is hosting a juried exhibition at the Emerald Arts Center in Springfield, Oregon. This juried exhibition and competition is open to all print artists currently residing in the U.S., 18 or older. All print artists may submit one original print in any traditional printmaking technique.

Entries must be original prints, hand-pulled; no digital or photographic prints are accepted. Accepted media include all traditional printmaking techniques, such as etching, monotype, mezzotint, woodcut, linocut, screen print, and lithography. Entries must be suitably framed or mounted, ready to be hung using wire hangers, and must be no larger than 24 x 24 inches framed, with total depth not exceeding 2 inches. Each entry must include a title (or be noted as "Untitled") and a medium or process description. The entry fee is $30.00, and artists must include a sale price for each entry at submission. Whiteaker Printmakers and Emerald Arts Center will retain a 40% commission on all sales. Unsold works will be returned after the exhibition closes.

The juror is Karen Kunc, Constellation Studios Director and Willa Cather Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The juror will select four accepted entries for cash awards: $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and two $100 awards for third place. Awards will be announced on the exhibition opening day, with winning artists notified by email and award checks mailed by August 8, 2016. The exhibition runs August 1-26, 2016 at Emerald Arts Center in Springfield, Oregon. Acceptance notification will be sent by email on June 27, 2016. Artwork delivery to Whiteaker Printmakers is July 5-18, with return shipments completed by September 8, 2016.
