About This Call
The Power Plant Grant program provides funding for Indianapolis area artists, collectives, collaborative groups, partnerships, and artist-run spaces to make and share experimental work and ideas in public spaces around the region. The program is supported by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and developed and implemented by Big Car Collaborative.
Eligibility is limited to artists, collectives, collaborative groups, partnerships, and artist-run spaces residing within the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Awarded artists must remain resident for the entire period of their award. The program is not available for non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations or for current or recently graduated students. Proposals that bridge geographic or cultural communities are strongly encouraged.
The 2021-22 program will provide $60,000 in total grants, including full project awards of up to $10,000 each to support the creation and presentation of new work with a strong visual component, and research and development awards of $2,000 each to support research and development for ambitious new projects. Supported projects may include visual art, performance, film screenings, video, new media, writing, public programming, social practice, and interdisciplinary projects. All work should include a compelling visual component. Applicants will be considered for both levels of funding unless they elect not to be considered for the smaller award. The selection panel will determine which level of grant is awarded based on their assessment of the project's needs and merits.
Final round applicants must present their proposals at the Selection Panel meeting in Indianapolis on June 18, 2021. At least one team member (maximum 2) from each artist group must be present to give a 5-minute illustrated presentation with a 5-minute question and answer period. Work sample requirements include a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 images, with up to 3 audio files and 3 video files permitted (total samples between 5 and 16). Applications are submitted via callforentry.org.
