About This Call
Portrayed is an open medium exhibition of original and unique 2D and 3D portraiture artworks featuring work in a variety of styles. Work must either depict a human figure or be a self-portrait to be considered. Work may be no longer than 60 inches in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds. All work must be hang/presentation ready.
This juried exhibition will be co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and exhibition juror Sam Hughes, a professional photographer, artist, and professor of photography at Norfolk State University. The exhibition runs July 1-25, 2021, with a public reception on Thursday, July 1st from 5:30-7:30pm. D'Art Center will host an in-person reception according to state COVID guidelines, stream the reception awards on Facebook Live, upload the award video to YouTube, and list exhibiting pieces for sale on the d'Art Center website.
Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 works (one image per submission), with $5 for each additional submission up to a maximum of 10 works. Artists must submit 3-10 images for consideration. Notifications will be sent by email by June 14, 2021. Accepted works must arrive by June 25, 2021. Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $150. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels via UPS or FedEx. For questions about work eligibility, contact [email protected].
