Portraits, Poses and Tableaux Vivants

Core New Art Space invites all artists working in any mediums (2D and 3D, except video and installations) to submit work exploring portraiture—human or animal. A portrait can tell a story of someone at a moment in time, of something happening around them, or be the memory of someone lost to time. Images might suggest that a person was present because of what they left behind, or a portrait might be the icons that tell the story of someone's passions, their pets, or their personality. The exhibition seeks artists' interpretations of the genre of portraiture.

Entries must be submitted electronically by June 12, 2024, with a $35 entry fee for up to 3 works. Submissions should include 1-3 images. Work must be no larger than 48 inches on its longest side, including frame; work outside these parameters will be disqualified. When entering, list all media used in the description field. Judging will be based on overall impact, content, composition, mastery of technique, creativity, and craftsmanship.

Juror: Mark Brasuell, an abstract painter based in Denver, Colorado. Notification of acceptance will be sent on or before June 17, 2024. Accepted work must arrive at Core New Art Space (6501 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214) by Friday, July 5, 2024 at 4 p.m. The exhibition runs Friday, July 12 – Sunday, July 28, 2024, with an artist reception on Friday, July 12 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. For questions, contact [email protected].
