Portals: Small Works 2019

Portals: Small Works 2019 is a national juried exhibition welcoming entries of traditional and alternative photography, photographic based works, paintings, and mixed media works depicting physical portals—doors, windows, and/or gateways. The exhibition is open to national artists and photographers 18 years or older. Fifty works will be chosen for the exhibit. All works must be framed in bright white with a maximum size of 12x12 inches or smaller, including frame. Frames must use white solid core mats and flat finish white frames with a maximum front profile width of 1 inch, properly framed with braided wire and frame bumpers, and ready to hang.

The submission deadline is October 19, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The entry fee is $40 for up to three works and is non-refundable. Accepted entries will be notified by October 25, 2019. Framed works must arrive at the gallery November 20-22, 2019. The exhibition runs from November 30, 2019 through January 19, 2020, with an opening reception and awards presentation on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 6-8pm. Unsold works must be picked up January 24-26, 2020.

The juror is Franklin Hill Perrell, an art historian, curator, and writer. Awards include First Place: $500, Second Place: $300, and Third Place: $100. All works must be for sale with a 50/50 commission split between artist and gallery (net less credit card fee). Entries must not have been previously shown at or submitted to Alex Ferrone Gallery. Submissions are made through CallForEntry.org with images submitted as JPEGs properly labeled with artist's last name, first name, and title. Include an artist statement and short personal bio with your application. Shipping to and from the gallery is the artist's responsibility.
