About This Call
The Port of Portland Industry & Art Juried Exhibit is a juried art exhibition showcasing artwork that celebrates life along the Columbia and Willamette rivers, the people and industries working on the waterfront, and their natural and industrial surroundings. Approximately 50 paintings, prints, photographs, drawings, and sculptures will be selected for the exhibit. The exhibition will be showcased at Seaport Celebration on August 16, 2014, at the Port of Portland's Terminal 4, 11040 N. Lombard Street, Portland, Oregon. A private Industry & Art gala will be held the evening of August 14 to open the show. First, second, and third place cash prizes will be awarded for best in show ($3,000/$2,000/$1,000).
Residents of Oregon and Washington ages 18 and up are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit exactly 5 digital images of their artwork and an artist's statement through www.callforentry.org. Entries will be accepted in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fiber arts, and glass. Two-dimensional artwork will be displayed on gallery walls under a large event tent; three-dimensional works must be able to fit within the exhibit space and can be no larger than 7 feet tall and 6 feet wide. Artwork must depict some aspect of life on the waterfront in Portland, Oregon. Work done in class or under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. All artwork must be original in concept, and compositions taken from published material or involving copyright infringement will not be considered.
Selected artists will be invited to participate in an inspirational site tour on July 10 or 11, 2014, with guided tours conducted in secure areas of the working waterfront. Artwork must be delivered to the designated site by 3 p.m. on August 7, 2014. All work must be available for sale and priced with the intent to sell. Sales proceeds are split 40% to the artist and 60% to the Portland Community College Industrial Jobs Training Program scholarship fund. Artwork must be professionally framed and/or wired and ready for hanging, with wire in good condition, flat D-rings used on frames, and clean canvas edges with no visible staples.
