About This Call
The Port of Portland invites artists to participate in the 2013 Seaport Celebration: The Waterfront and Me Exhibition. Any legal resident of Oregon and Washington ages 18 and up is eligible to apply. Applicants must submit exactly 5 digital images of their artwork and an artist's statement through www.callforentry.org by midnight Mountain Time on July 1, 2013. The Seaport Celebration Committee will select approximately 40 artists to create new pieces specifically for the exhibition based on submitted sample images. Selected artists will submit photos of their new work by August 2 for publicity purposes.
Artwork must depict some aspect of the working waterfront in Portland, Oregon and be available for sale. Accepted media include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fiber arts and glass. Pieces can be no larger than 7 feet tall, 7 feet wide and 2 feet deep. All artwork must be original, framed and ready for hanging with wire attached. Artwork must be delivered to Port of Portland Terminal 4 by 5 p.m. on August 12, 2013. The exhibition runs August 17, and all artwork must be collected by September 3, 2013.
Sales proceeds will be split 50% to the artist and 50% to the Portland Community College Industrial Jobs Training Program scholarship fund. Awards will be given for 1st place ($1,500), 2nd place ($1,000), 3rd place ($500) and People's Choice ($250). Questions about the exhibit should be directed to [email protected].
