Pop Art

Artists are invited to submit original artwork for the "Pop Art" exhibit at R Gallery in Boulder, Colorado. The gallery seeks artwork in all styles and mediums that incorporate the theme of Pop Art—the kitschy, colorful, ironic, mass-media look at culture. Pop Art is the movement and style from the 1950s that originated in the United Kingdom and the United States, including imagery from pop culture and mass media such as comic books, advertising, and mundane mass-produced products. The style often serves as critical or ironic commentary on traditional fine art values and themes.

Artwork submitted should focus on pieces that evoke the sense of mass culture and media of any time period, including the textures, emotions, materials, colors, and concepts of pop art. This can consist of a literal representation or symbolic interpretation of the fundamental pop theme. Eligible categories include Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Photography, and Mixed-Media. Pieces should be less than 30" wide including frame or case; only a few spots are available for pieces up to 48" wide. Eligibility is limited to Colorado residents, and all entries must be of original design and personal execution.

The exhibition runs March 30 through April 24, 2022. Submission deadline is March 6, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Accepted works must arrive by March 27. Entry fee is $30.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Submit 1-10 images. All pieces must remain up for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale. R Gallery charges a 50% commission on sales and will send checks to artists by the 15th of the month following the sale. Work will be returned by May 15, 2022 unless otherwise agreed upon; a prepaid return label must be provided if sending work by carrier.
